To join of Unison Health Plan and become eligible to receive accessible and comprehensive health care benefits from qualified Unison providers and specialists in your area, you must first apply for the D.C. Healthy Families program.
D.C. Healthy Families is a free health insurance program funded by the District of Columbia and the Federal Government. It is for families with children under the age of 19 and for women who are pregnant that live in the District of Columbia.
Your eligibility depends on family income guidelines set by the Department of Health.
If you do not qualify for this Medicaid program, you may be eligible for Unison Health Plan’s Alliance (Safety Net). Alliance is a public healthcare program for individuals and families who meet the following requirements:
- Live in the District of Columbia
- Have no health insurance
- Have a pre-taxed family income equal to or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Open enrollment in the District of Columbia runs from May 1-June 2, 2008, for the Medicaid plan, and from May 1-June 30, 2008, for the Alliance plan.
